Kanotix ist ein solides auf Debian basierendes Linux. Es beinhaltet die neuesten wichtigen Pakete und erkennt mehr moderne Hardware als irgend ein anderes heutiges Betriebssystem.

Knoppix
Knoppix ist eine komplett von CD oder DVD lauffähige Zusammenstellung von GNU/Linux-Software mit automatischer Hardwareerkennung und Unterstützung für viele Grafikkarten, Soundkarten, SCSI- und USB-Geräte und sonstige Peripherie. Knoppix kann als produktives Linux-System for den Desktop, Schulungs-CD, Rescue-System oder als Plattform für kommerzielle Software-Produktdemos angepasst und eingesetzt werden. Es ist keinerlei Installation auf Festplatte notwendig. Fink
Fink hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, ein System zur Verfügung zu stellen, das es einfach macht, Open Source Software auf Darwin und Mac OS X zu verwalten und zu installieren. Hierzu kommen bekannte Debian Tools wie dpkg und apt-get zum Einsatz. Die freiwilligen Mitarbeiter dieses Projektes kümmern sich auch um die Anpassung von Software, so daß diese ohne Probleme auf Mac OS X nutzbar wird. Dabei überlassen wir es dem Nutzer, ob er die Software selber kompiliert oder schon fertige Pakete installiert.
